[Infographic] Content Marketing Trends To Watch In 2014

Toronto, Canada. December 10, 2013. As the year comes to a close, it’s time to look at what lies ahead in 2014. This past year, more companies than ever have used content marketing as a leading tactic to drive engagement with their brands - and 2014 shows no slowing down.

To help brands understand where content marketing is headed, Uberflip's latest infographic compiles key findings from the past year and projections for where marketers will focus their efforts in 2014. Content creation will continue to be a big focus, though marketers will become much more strategic in their efforts.

Brands are definitely creating more content, but quantity doesn’t necessarily equal quality,” says Hana Abaza, Uberflip’s Director of Marketing. “If marketers really want to be successful, they need to first understand who they’re speaking to - get to know their audience. Then, focus on high quality content that is useful for them.”

How will content marketing evolve in 2014? Here are some key findings and predictions:

  • 60% of B2C marketers will increase their content marketing budget over the next 12 months. (CMI, MarketingProfs & Imagination)
  • There are now more active mobile devices than adults in the U.S. (IDC)
  • Director of Content will be a top new position for companies to hire for (Forbes)
  • Google's Hummingbird algorithm shakes up keyword strategies in favour of high quality content.
