7+ Things You Can Embed in Your Next Blog Post to Increase Engagement
If you haven't thought about embedding anything interactive into your next blog post, consider this your sign to do it now.
Of course, you want to make sure that whatever you embed makes sense based on your content and strategy.
But embedding content such as presentations, videos or podcasts is a great way to reuse what you may already have, and connect your readers with information you know they'll be interested in. It's also a great way to generate more engagement from your B2B content.
Embedding like a pro
The most difficult thing when it comes to embedding content in your posts is finding the embed code to use and getting it to work.
Some platforms require you to have an account before you can access the code. Others (like YouTube) make it easier; you just have to know where to look.
Generally, the embed code can be found near the 'Share' options. When you get the code, all that's required is to copy it.
When in the Uberflip Item Editor, you'll want to use the '<> Source' button so that you can place the code exactly where you want within your blog post.
Here are six examples of embeds you can use in your Blog Items to build engagement with your audience (we've also included where to look to find the code you'll need 😉)!
1. Podcasts / Audio
The folks at Fizzle do a great job of this. They have a popular podcast, but use their blog to complement each new episode (and they use SoundCloud for podcasting).
If you don't {yet} have a podcast, you can usually get the code for any content you'd like to embed as long as you have an account.
SoundCloud
No need for an account with SoundCloud. Simply find the audio you'd like to embed and click the 'Share' button (look under the 'Write a comment...' box).
Select 'Embed' in the box that pops up and copy the code in the 'Code & preview' box. Once you paste the code in the Item Editor and save the changes in the Item, your embed will look like this:
Stitcher
Quite a few podcasts are also distributed on Stitcher (like the ContentPros Podcast!). On Stitcher, the embed code can be found beneath each episode, beside the social share buttons.
You may need to adjust the width of the iframe on Stitcher within the source code — we recommend 838 pixels wide for Uberflip content.
2. Polls and Forms
If you've been following Uberflip's blog, you probably saw this coming. For most poll or survey providers, you'll have to have an account to get the embed code. This goes for some of the top survey providers, such as Wufoo and SurveyMonkey.
3. Quizzes
Quizzes are all the rage right now — even in B2B marketing. At the end of the day, people love learning new and interesting things about themselves, and quizzes are a great way to do so.
The exact same embed process can be used for embedding quizzes in your Blog Items as will Polls (in fact, we recommend using Pollcaster's cousin, Qzzr).
4. Video
If you've already added a YouTube, Vimeo or Wistia Stream to your Hub, but want to include a video that isn't in your account, embedding is an ideal option.
Here's an example of how to embed a YouTube video in a Blog Item.
YouTube
No account needed! Look just under the video you'd like to embed for the 'Share' button. Click that button and then select 'Embed'.
Pro Tip: Select 'Show More' to change the size of the video and select other options, such as whether or not suggested videos should show after your chosen clip is finished.
5. Presentations
As with videos, embedding a presentation in your blog post is a great way to share content that wasn't published by you, but is curated for your audience.
SlideShare
The 'Share' button underneath a presentation on SlideShare includes an 'Embed' option where you can find the code needed.
Before copying, make sure the size you want is selected!
6. Click-to-Tweets and Social Media Posts
Using clicktotweet.com, you can generate a link with content your readers can tweet to their followers. You'll need to connect your Twitter account to get started.
Once you're off and running, you can use images for your Click-to-Tweets, like this one:
Speaking of social media, you can also embed one-off posts on social within blog posts in your Hub. Like videos and presentations, you probably already have streams set up to aggregate your social content. However, let's say you're calling out a specific tweet from an influencer, or referring to a post on Instagram — you can pull the embed code directly from the social post and use it in your blog.
