Uberflip Wins Inaugural MarTech Org Stackies Award

Five companies were named on Monday as winners of the inaugural Stackies: Org Edition, announced at this fall’s MarTech conference in Boston. Uberflip was thrilled to be among the winners on hand to take home hardware presented by the conference’s chair, Scott Brinker. Check out the other winners.

Criteria for Selection

The MarTech Org Stackies solicited visualizations of ‘organizational stacks’ and the challenge of capturing that stack in a single slide. The Org Stackies complement previous competitions highlighting tech stacks. These entries illustrated the roles and processes that marketing departments have created to run marketing, in addition to the tech that powers them. 

In selecting winners of the best org stacks, MarTech focused on those entries that provided insight into the organization and operation of a modern marketing team. In so doing, it considered how well-aligned a marketing org stack was with its business, how concisely it communicated its concept, its aesthetics and its detail, as well as the insights that the entry provided.

The Pinwheel: Inside Our Award-Winning Marketing Org Stack

Our entry borrowed the metaphor of a pinwheel to communicate how the four key functions of our marketing organization worked together to support a progressive stage in the buyer-customer journey. We liked the idea of a pinwheel because it communicated fluidity and flexibility.

Indeed, each of its blades turns together and can each be adjusted in response to the market’s external force — and each is affixed to our martech stack at the pinwheel’s strategic center. From this vantage point, the CMO and VP can ensure the tools and platforms upon which the Marketing department turns enable the full suite of activities!

Martech Alone is Not a Panacea

“By itself, marketing technology is not a panacea,” writes Scott Brinker, chairman of the awards. “Harnessing the potential of this technology requires developing new organizational capital: new organizational structures and processes, new skills and talents on the marketing team, [and] new management approaches.”

According to Brinker, The Stackies: Org Edition are incredibly valuable in helping the wider marketing community understand how today’s organizations are organized and managed, and to encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences with one another.

The best part? As a thank you to all participants, the Martech Conference contributed $5,000 to the non-profit educational organization, Women Who Code.
