5 Tips For Smarter Blogging

Becoming a great blogger is a long-term process: it takes practice and it doesn't happen overnight. But becoming a smart blogger is something anyone can achieve right away, by using the right tools.

Smart blogging means:

  • You remember your good ideas.
  • You spend less time working on them.
  • You use feedback to improve your writing.

Let me walk you through a few tips to achieve smarter blogging.

Voice-to-text is underrated

Whether you are driving or walking to work, commuting is one of the least productive times of the day. I will definitely not suggest that you text and drive or walk and text here, but voice-to-text is a safe option that deserves a try.

Voice-to-text will allow you to record your thoughts and never miss out on good ideas and inspirations, whenever they come up. All that’s left to do is to edit and format your text once you get to your desk. There are many apps that will allow you to record audio notes, like Evernote for iPhone or Android.

Your notes in the cloud

Forget about scribbling notes on a notebook or saving files on your computer. What you need is to regroup your ideas in the cloud. Whether you're at home, at the office or on your phone, you’ll always have access to a single version of your work.

Documents in the cloud, like Google Docs, will automatically be saved upon closing. No need to worry about a fancy file name or selecting the right folder -- just create a document and close it when you are running out of time.

Ambient noise for creativity

One way to unleash your creative genius is to listen to ambient noise. Not music, and especially not the phone conversation of your co-worker -- just plain noise. If you don’t have the opportunity to get natural ambient noise, may I suggest these free playlists for maximum productivity:

Get instant feedback

This may sound odd, but the most honest feedback you will ever get about your content will come from a computer. Using a tool like Atomic Reach, you can get an instant analysis of your writing. Atomic Reach will analyze the linguistic elements and the structure of your post, as well as how it fits your audience and keywords. It will give you a score and you can tweak your content until you are satisfied with the score. Go ahead and test it, you can try it for free!

Collaboration is key

The editing step is the most important part of blogging and you should not be left on your own, collaboration is key. Smart bloggers always share a copy of their work with their friends or peers for a review. Sometimes, the most crucial part of a blog post will come from the feedback. Most blogging platforms have built-in options that will facilitate collaboration.
