INFOGRAPHIC: Tablets and Kids – The Future Consumer
We’ve released an infographic about tablets, and how these devices are widely used by children. It provides insightful facts and figures about the adoption of tablets by children, stats on content consumption habits, as well as examples of successful apps targeted to kids.
“Kids today are growing up with tablets, smartphones and laptops all around them. Many even learn to type before they can write. Marketers can’t ignore this trend,” says Neil Bhapkar, Director of Marketing for Uberflip. “Kids are probably not your target market right now, but they will be one day and chances are that they’ll already be familiar with a number of consumer electronic devices.”
Here are some interesting facts from this visual:
- A recent PBS survey about how kids and parents interact with the iPad revealed that 70 percent of parents allow their children to use their iPad.
- On average, parents with iPads download 8 apps specifically for their children
- New research by Nielsen shows that 7 out of 12 children ages twelve and under who live in tablet-owning households use the devices for a variety of purposes.
- The global market for cloud computing will grow from $40.7 billion in 2011 to more than $241 billion in 2020.
Data sources for the infographic include Nielsen and Time Magazine and PBS.
