Uberflip's Give Back Initiative: a 2021 recap
At Uberflip, we believe so strongly in making a positive contribution to our community that “Give Back” is one of our core values. Uberflippers live out this core value in a few ways:
- We give back to our communities
- We are both the student and the teacher
- We make time to educate other Uberflippers
As an organization, we commit to delivering on our Give Back promise by giving back 1% of our new revenue each year to a variety of charities and organizations. For 2021, this meant giving back over $25,000 to many deserving organizations and causes!
One of the great things about our Give Back initiative is that it allows us to support what is most needed to make an impact each year. Here are some of the meaningful contributions that we’ve made to help secure a brighter future for those in need.
Our longstanding relationship with SickKids
We started out the year donating to our charitable partner of almost ten years, SickKids. Through their fundraising initiative, Tech4SickKids, SickKids called on Canada’s tech community to help raise $25 million to invest in big-data solutions and a modern new hospital!
We also contributed to SickKids Fantasy Faceoff, a one-month, gloves-off hockey pool where participants go head-to-head with players across Canada to fundraise for SickKids. It's everyone who participates VS the biggest challenges in child health, and the winner is every kid who needs SickKids!
A more equitable future
In honor of International Women’s Day, we donated to The Redwood, a safe haven for women & children. The Redwood provides healing and opportunities for growth for women and their children fleeing abuse. Families receive case management and counseling services from Resident Services Counselors, access to empowering and life-changing programs, and transitional support when they are ready to take the steps toward a new life.
Humanitarian relief initiatives
As the pandemic continues to touch the lives of family, friends and colleagues both, locally and abroad, we wanted to support those who were affected both, internationally and at home. We donated to CARE India, a non-for-profit organization, to help families in India access emergency health care services, hospital beds, oxygen, life saving medicine and personal protective equipment.
CARE has been working in India for over 70 years, for the upliftment of marginalised women and girls through 53 programmes in 18 states and 130+ districts.
For the first time this year we donated to Givergy, an organization on a mission to empower charities and individuals to help make the world a better place.
Causes near to the hearts of Uberflippers
To close out the year, we contributed to two of our employees’ initiatives in raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as well as other personal initiatives which we hold close to our hearts.
Giving back all year long
Looking back on this list brings a smile to our faces knowing we were able to instill little pockets of positivity both, at home and abroad among all of the uncertainty happening in the world. We have been through it all but being able to continue donating to organizations reminds us of how lucky we are.
