6 Holiday Video Concepts You’ll Want to Steal

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But the truth is there are very few brand spankin’ new ideas, especially easy-to-execute B2B marketing ones.

And when it comes to creating yet another holiday video, who couldn’t use a little inspiration?

So we’ve rounded up six (well, technically seven) of our favorite holiday video examples to get the creative juices flowing, this year and next!

1. The Trip Down Memory Lane

Who doesn’t love a good story? Digging into holiday seasons past brings people together. Oh, the nostalgia! Whether it’s your coworkers, customers, or friends sharing their holiday traditions, memories, or in the case of Vidyard, the gift they never got, looking at the past is a very festive approach that gives audiences all the feels.

2. The Gift-Giving Surprise

Gifting loved ones is, for most of us, a classic holiday activity. So this year, the team at Uberflip decided to surprise a few of our unsuspecting colleagues with some really terrible or really meaningful presents. The result is at times  cringeworthy , chuckle-inducing, and heart-warming. And for us, it drives home a message that’s near and dear to our hearts—personalization matters.

3. The Time Lapse

Time-lapse videos are fairly easy to pull off if you’re decorating your office or setting up for a Christmas party, and often produce a cool effect—like this one from Aristotle Interactive Agency. Pretty much anyone could shoot this with a tripod and patience.

4. The High-Concept, High-Production Holiday Masterpiece

There aren’t too many B2B companies that could pull off these high-concept, high-production holiday video masterpieces, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be inspired by what these agencies Klick and Ogilvy did and how corporate holiday videos can be so much more than a moving picture Christmas card. They’re an opportunity for your marketing team to get creative, have a little fun, and show off their  acting / singing  / musical instrument playing chops.

5) The “Let’s Sing (or Lip Sync) a Christmas Song”

There’s nothing more festive than a Christmas carol! Singing a holiday jingle is perhaps the most popular approach to holiday videos. Why? They can be easy and painless because no one person has to be the star—just like group karaoke! But when a brand takes it up a notch like School Editing did here, well that’s when the magic happens! P.S. This was all shot in one take!

6) The Weird and Wonderful

I don’t know what this is but I love it. That’s the impression this next type of holiday video is destined to leave, but it works. It’s quirky and cute, weird and wonderful. And best of all, it stands out. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for Exit10’s concept pitch.
