Finding Time For Quality, Effective Content Marketing

Content is the big thing in marketing right now. 93% of B2B marketers are embracing it in one form or another, and 60% are creating at least one piece of content each week.

Of course, as the volume of content increases, a challenge emerges: how do you create amazing material that really stands out from the crowd?

With only so many hours in a day — and a task list as long as your arm – how can you produce regular, high-quality, effective content, while still getting all your other jobs done?

In this article, we'll take a look at ways to create exceptional content – efficiently and effectively!

Thorough planning and research

You can save a lot of time – and avoid unnecessary headaches – by making as many decisions as possible in the earliest stages of content creation. Changes are much easier to make early on in the process, and the last thing you want to do is commit valuable time and resources to a flawed idea.

One of the first things we do here at Wyzowl when creating content for our clients is to produce a full draft outline for them to approve; this allows us to work out any issues at the earliest possible opportunity, before the design phase begins. It helps ensure we're on the same page as the client right from the get-go – avoiding unnecessary delays down the line.

We'd always recommend thoroughly planning your content beforehand. Define your target audience, pick a relevant subject, and decide which form of content is best suited to the subject matter. Put together a design draft if necessary, and carry out suitable research to ensure you can validate your ideas with facts and statistics.

Once you've planned and researched your piece, you should be left with either a draft outline or — at least — an awesome brief to pass on to your designers!

Use a fixed process (and communicate!)

One of the reasons we're able to work so efficiently on content creation is that we operate a fixed process with several milestones along the way to ensure we're on top of the process. Of course, content creation always going to be a creative process, but it must also be structured and streamlined if it's to work efficiently for you and your business.

At every stage all the way from conception, to planning and research, proposals, first drafts, revisions, feedback and promotion, try and get as much structure into your process as you can — and actually set dates to get this stuff completed.

Decide on a process that works for you and use it for every piece of content you create. Make sure all the relevant stakeholders get chance to review and collaborate before you move forward. This helps manage everyone's expectations within your business, while giving your designers as much constructive feedback and direction as possible.

Don't skimp on quality

Great content doesn't cost as much as you might think, so even if you don't have the required expertise in house, outsourcing the task needn't cost the world.

Ultimately, it's much better to do this and get a high-quality piece of content, than cutting corners and ending up with a low-quality piece that doesn't convey the right message about your brand.

Promote your content properly

Again, as the world of content gets ever-more competitive, simply creating content isn't enough anymore.  You need to get out there and promote it effectively across multiple channels.

Whether it's posting on social media, picking up paid ads, reaching out to publications, or enlisting the help of online influencers, you have to be creative to make sure your content makes the biggest impact it possibly can.

Free yourself

All too often — particularly in small and medium-size businesses — marketers and decision-makers are totally sold on the importance of content marketing, but they just don't have the time or resources to make it a priority.

If that's a predicament you can relate to, our content marketing agency might be for you. Our process has been specifically designed to take care of all of of the "hard work" of content marketing — we do it all for you, with as much or as little involvement on your part as you like.

We take care of everything from initial concepts, planning and research, all the way to design and even promotion. Our package comes with a fixed price — no need to worry about spiraling costs — and we provide mutually agreed upon dates so you'll know exactly when each part of the process will be complete. In short, we're all about delivering outstanding content, while getting all of the associated tasks out of your inbox so you can "do content" AND concentrate on the other stuff you have to do.
